A lot of the internet when into a congregated “WOO-HAH” at first glimpse of Sony’s upcoming “Home” software. The idea that Sony may actually address the lack of online cohesion throughout this “Playstation Network”. The idea is that Home is aiming toward socialization and a great medium in which to take user feedback and suggestions. This sounds very MySpace-ish, which is understandable because MySpace’s frame of income is very enviable. ANYWAY, inquiring minds have found:
- A closed 15,000-user beta will run from April to August
- An open beta for 50,000 people until October
- The service going live sometime before Halloween.
The FAQ also clarifies some details such as integration with cellphones, and PSPs, but also gives light to some of the limitations of the software when it launches. You can’t jump from “Home” directly into a “game” or use it as a matchmaking replacement when the service launches.
bummer.
