The current state of Video Games

Now I know I will definitely piss off motherfuckers today but this shit needs to be said. Why is it ok for game developers to pump out half ass games each year and charge full price?? Now I know sports games have been doing this since the dawn of gaming and it has always been ignored, this is a fucking mistake!! Whatever happened to…o I don’t know..TALENT!! Why is ok for me to spend ... Read More!

Impressions: Uncharted 3

Plot: The narrative opens with a quote T.E. Lawrence’s Seven Pillars of Wisdom: “All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible. This I did.” The plot revolves around the ... Read More!

Max Payne 3 lives…

Max Payne 3 was announced years ago, shortly after the release of the second game and it took a few years and console generations before anyone heard nor hair of the game again. Today we get another look at the titular hero re-assuring fans across the world that Max Payne lives on and that the game is still coming. Soon. Maybe. I’m not sure if the dude with the hair is Max but if it is ... Read More!

Impressions: Trinity Souls of Zill O’ll

Plot:On the continent of Vyashion, two forces have always fought fiercely against each other. One an empire located to the north called Dyneskal and the other the Kingdom of Rostorl, located in the south. Using a revolt caused by Balor (The emperor of Dyneskal) to its advantage, the former king of Rostorl ordered an attack on the south-eastern part of Dyneskal. Rostorl’s attack failed and ... Quick Thoughts: Top Spin 4 Demo

Tried the Topspin 4 demo with Move. Again it’s just swinging, and not about position. You move with the nav controller in your left hand and swing with the Move controller in your right. It didn’t adjust for body position, but that’s just the game. It’s not like say table tennis in Sports Champion. At the end moving your character with an analog stick while feverishly ... Read More!

Quick Thoughts: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 Demo

Tried the Tiger Woods demo with Move, not as intuitive as I thought. In fact it was just like pretend motion, needs to be heavily refined. It’s a simulation of golf swinging and that’s it. I couldn’t control my back swing accurately at all, it’d motion way too far in relation to the character on-screen and myself. So 30% power in say real life ended up being like 50% ... Read More!

Trailer: The Conduit 2

I played a lot of the first Conduit on initial release as many people, including myself, saw it as the FPS of choice on Nintendo’s console that unapologetically borrowed and was influenced by some of the bigger name games on rival consoles. I’ve been keeping up with the sequel to the lone bastion of FPS gaming on the Wii and it looks like the new game will do a bit of ... Read More!

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime Dev Diary

I’m a huge Ghostbusters fan and usually geek out at the mere thought of the theme song, proton packs, or just enough bright lights “crossing streams” before my eyes so I always enjoy when someone shares my enthusiasm for the franchise. Today we have a look at the dev diary for the latest Ghostbusters game: Source: Joystiq I love me some Ghostbusters and look forward to any ... Read More!

Batman: Arkham City trailer premiere

The first trailer for the sequel to the critically acclaimed Batman Arkham Asylum has made its way online and shows off Batman, Catwoman, and Mr. Harvey “Two-Face” Dent himself in what appears to be some of the dirties, wettest, grittiest locations I’ve ever seen in a videogame in my life that undoubtedly pushes the Unreal Engine in directions I’d never imagined for a ... Impressions: DC Universe Online 03-2011

This battle takes place in the ruins of Metropolis, and features the deaths of several well-known DC Comics characters. The battle culminates with the death of Superman at the hands of Lex ... Impressions: Playstation Move + Sharpshooter

I have so much to say on this and I probably won’t be able to say everything. First off, Move is legit. I walked away this weekend absolutely loving the Ping Pong game in the Sports Champion demo. Unlike Wii Tennis, you actually have to hold the controller/paddle straight and can put top spin, back spin, slice, actually lob shots and downward shots. It’s awesome. There are ... Read More!

Quick Thoughts: Enslaved

Plot: The story is a re-imagining of the ancient Chinese story Journey to the West by Wu Cheng’en, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of China. Unlike the original story that was set in a fantastical version of ancient China, the game is set 150 years in a future post-apocalyptic world following a global war, with only remnants of humanity left, along with the still active war ... Gears of War 3

There has been a ton of speculation and expectations for Microsoft’s breakout hit series Gears of War and now it seems that the mega franchise finally has a release date for the third entry in the series and it will probably clear the calendar and your shelf of anything else from nearing the Xbox disc tray. It’s a bit early and unexpected but the good folks over in the house that ... Read More!

Quick Thoughts: Dead Space 2

I beat Dead Space 2. Fantastic game, which was very much improved from the first game but still followed the same formula. The story is still about survival, nothing more, nothing less. It is open ended and I will definitely be there for the third one. I hope EA goes a bit bigger with scope as I felt this game hinted at a lot more then was revealed… or should I say understood. Still a ... Read More!
