First let me open by saying that I did not see the first film. Never even heard of the dang thing. I have to say that after watching the clips and trailers for this new film it actually made me want to look up and look back to see what the heck all the fuss is about. The film is an old school slasher rather than the the type of films they try to pass as horror today. There’s a lot of blood, There’s a few of the clich’e setups for killing blonde’s and teens seen in the trailer, some more blood, but they really emphasize the buckets of blood. I haven’t watched a good horror film in a long time and this one should be labeled “throwback” in that I felt like a 5yr old all over again. Yep, it’s that intimidating. This is so old school it would make Grindhouse stare in envy. I actually think the trailer is going to give me nightmares so… now I’m a little apprehensive to even watch the original. I will, don’t get me wrong. I’m going to be smart enough to keep a blanket nearby after I procure a DVD.
And no, I’m not a wimp, I just haven’t seen a horror film like this one in a long time.
