Well where do I start? With all the consoles these days trying to eat off this whole motion gaming thing and it was only a matter of time until we got something like “Kung Fu live.” PlayStations’ take on motion gaming merged with a beat em up style gameplay. I just wish it would’ve come a lot later or not at all. Long story short, the idea behind this game was to put the player into the game. This is a DLG (Download-able game) for the ps3 that uses the PlayStation eye. Basically it SAYS whatever you do happens in the game. Well that’s lies.

First off the game needs to take a picture of you. The process  says you need 7 X 10 feet of room which is a LIE. You need to play this game in an auditorium that houses the sun in order for it to work. You’re going to find that it’s too dark, on average, and parts of you are gonna get cut out. No matter how much you tinker with it you’ll NEVER get it just perfect as you see in those lying commercials. So after I tried every option in the game TWICE the best I got was my upper torso all shady. Now comes the gameplay. It sucks. What ever u do affects the enemies on screen. There’s all sorts of moves for you to learn like a fireball or super punch but you can never get the right motion for it to recognize it for the move to come out. You can use anything in the real world and the game will react to it but it turns out all the reactions are canned and the diffrences are microscopic at best. After about five minutes you’ll see that just flicking your hand works just fine. All the special evasive moves like backflips and ducks are never seen by the game or just don’t work. I spent half the time jumping and doing some teleport when I meant to evade or duck.

The story is even worse. Well you take the role of some every day joe working at some comic-book shop when one day your attacked by mysterious thugs and all of a sudden know karate. Turns out there is some painting that holds powers I tried to follow it but as you can see its just silly. Didn’t really expect much of a story but they could have tried.

Bottom line. Crappy controls, crappy story, requires waaaaay too much for it to work, you’ll fight with the settings more than the enemies on screen, annoying narrator. On the bright side its not too expensive and its a step in the right direction too bad when they stepped the right way they fell over and broke their legs on rocks and kept falling.
Score D-
