Phoenix and Haggar Join cast of Marvel vs. Capcom 3

I’m really starting to get excited about this game as Capcom continues to pummel us with more characters, screens, and videos of the latest additions to the cast. I was thinking about holding off on picking this game up because of the dust that’s being collected on my copies of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Street Fighter 4, and the dust on the store shelf that has the Super Street Fighter 4 that I never  bought. I’ve long since felt that fighting games are a dying breed and shouldn’t be bought unless you have a crowd of friends to play with locally as an online arcade doesn’t deliver the same experience.

Today we’re officially announcing Phoenix and Haggar for Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds!

Mutant Jean Grey became the receptacle for the powerful Phoenix Force, granting her near god-like powers when it becomes fully active, as it unleashes the fury of the Dark Phoenix when Jean is knocked out with a full Hyper Combo gauge. Other Marvel characters include Storm, She-Hulk, Magneto, M.O.D.O.K., Spider-Man, X-23, Dormammu, Thor, Deadpool, Hulk, Wolverine, Iron Man, Captain America, Doctor Doom and Super-Skrull.

Mike Haggar is a former wrestler and mayor of Metro City. He often takes to the street to deal with Metro City’s gang problem. He’ll be joined by Capcom comrades Crimson Viper, Zero, Arthur, Nathan “Rad” Spencer, Wesker, Tron Bonne, Viewtiful Joe, Amaterasu, Dante, Ryu, Morrigan, Chris Redfield, Felicia, Trish and Chun-Li.

Get set for the ultimate 3-on-3 faceoff when Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds hits PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on February 15, 2011.

Check out the latest clips that they were kind enough to add to YouTube! Now how on Earth were they able to make Phoenix a balanced fighter? She destroys star systems!
