Now to me Cosplay is an art form or expressing how one like for major show; movies; games; cartoon/anime series or even their favorite actor/actress or singer/rapper. The practice of Cosplay started out in Japan or even at the Star-Trek conventions, but I truly think it become popular when anime became really main stream in America. Which brought on the age of the in the grand US of A. To me this is just for people who cannot wait for Halloween to come and want to bring it sooner than October. You know like those people who cannot wait for December for Christmas; which is why we have that term Christmas in July, lol.
If you were to go to Japan you can find this craze in at dedicated cosplay parties, nightclubs or amusement parks. Sorry you will not find this foolishness in America at all unless you have some filthy rich Okatu that is the woning funding it or a good old fashion nerd looking for the next big buck to get from the real real nerds. The word cosplay comes from the term costume role playing were people actually put a lot of time and effort into creating costumes to represent their character. When I mean labor these people go in to make their costume look great and you have some people who try, but you can tell they just rushed it putting together their costume. It just shows….the pictures you are about to witness are pictures from various years we have been at the New York Big Apple Comic Con. Some pictures are have people who take this thing known as Cosplay seriously and the other those that do it just Comic Con looking down right WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS.
The sad part with cosplay you have people who do the gender switching roles meaning as girls may be dressed up as their favorite male character and males dressed up as their favorite female character. The women actually in my opinion can get away with this especially if they do not have too much of a womanly figure. The guys I downright hate when they dress up as women. It’s just NASTY and needs to be OUTLAWED. I still think of the horrors of a guy who dressed up as Faye Valentine my best friend showed me. SO WRONG……JUST SO SO WRONG!!
