It’s funny. Some of us have been cruising th einternets for years. Seriously, I’ve had to have stumbled onto dozen’s of online petitions over the years. Here’s what iv’e learned:
- They tend to gather attention.
- They have a 0% chance success rate.
Now come along 2K games, and they decide that they want to ruin and break the rules of the internets down to their knees, seems to be a trend, and actually pay attention to AND agree to implement the demands posted by random critics with at least minute comprehension of a keyboard and the internet.
The Petition was kind enough, with humble demands:
“Celebrating the release of such a great game and rewarding fans for bravely waiting make a Collectors Edition plausible.”
Things hit the Twiligh Zone when 2K games actually put the attention on the mainstream by posting about it on their main site and actually agreeing to a feasible stipulation.
2K’s Elizabeth Tobey recently posted:
“if we collected 5000 signatures on a petition, I could convince 2K to give us a BioShock Limited Edition.”
Now mind you, internet speed is without limit like tangible things like light and muscle. 5 Hours later she had over 14,000 signatures and climbing. Now they’re even allowing those same strangers to decide what goes into the Collector’s by way of a poll over on their official site.
Such fine paraphanalia to be bundled includes:
- Soundtrack CD
- Artbook
- Big Daddy figurine
- “Making of” DVD
- BioShock posters
- Upgraded packaging
- Art print with team’s signatures
Not bad internets, but you’ve obviously still got work to do. Me, i like toys so I’m goin with the figurine.
