Impressions: Season of the Witch

I think I have a guilty fetish of watching Nicholas Cage movies you know will be bad. It’s not to say Season of the Witch is terrible, but I just want to describe this fetish even more. Nicholas Cage is realistically and by pure math should be probably more miss, than hit, but nevertheless you keep watching him. My favorite movies of his are the National Treasure franchise, only ... Phoenix and Haggar Join cast of Marvel vs. Capcom 3

I’m really starting to get excited about this game as Capcom continues to pummel us with more characters, screens, and videos of the latest additions to the cast. I was thinking about holding off on picking this game up because of the dust that’s being collected on my copies of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Street Fighter 4, and the dust on the store shelf that has the Super Street Fighter ... Tomb Raider Trilogy Coming to PS3

Square-Enix is really starting to get into this Tomb Raider business as they seem to be planning to release the last 3 games in some mega combo pack coming this March! I haven’t played Tomb Raider since the PS1 age but I’ve heard a lot of great things about the series once Crystal Dynamics took over from Core. I’d be interested in trying these games out if they come with a ... Read More!

Trailer: ‘Red State’

Another WTF moment for me, but this one’s isn’t as appreciable as the last. Just saw some “leaked” trailer/teaser/thingy for the movie Red State by Kevin Smith and I have to outright say “BOOOOO”. Kevin has tasked himself with proving himself as a worth while film director in Hollywood and to graduate from his seemingly endless niche of being typecast as a ... Read More!

Impressions: ‘Uncharted 2: Among Thieves’

I have to say that I really was looking forward to playing Uncharted 2. I played a bit of Uncharted 1 and really wasn’t impressed with the game that I was playing. Maybe I played the game at the wrong time? 2010 may not have been the gaming environment that the original game was prepared for, but Uncharted 2 brought a whole other entertaining and interesting experience from beginning to ... Trailer: I am Number 4

WTF is this?! This movie is a bit of a surprise for me this morning. It seems that there are aliens living amongst us! This movie seems like some strange mix of Cloverfield with X-men, and some Twilight for good measure. I like some of the action but the teenage morbid emo brooding is usually something I prefer to avoid. Hopefully this is more District 9 and less Skyline. I guess I have ... Read More!

Impressions: Unstoppable

Plot: In a rail yard within the northern Pennsylvania town of Fuller, a pair of hostlers working for the Allegheny and West Virginia Railroad (AWVR) are ordered to move a freight train off its current track to make way for an excursion train carrying schoolchildren. One of the hostlers, Dewey (Ethan Suplee), chooses not to connect the locomotive’s air hose to save time; he does this ... Read More!

Review: Tron Legacy

Plot: For twenty years, Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) has been haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin (Jeff Bridges), an innovative software programmer and former CEO of ENCOM International. During a board of directors’s meeting before the launch of the 12th version of ENCOM’s operating system, Sam breaks in to the company’s headquarters and leaks the OS ... Read More!

Trailer: Fast Five

I saw the trailer earlier in the week on a few sites and have to say that I’m kinda looking forward to this flick! It has a lot of good action, and does the world a favor and highlights a lot of the cars. I especially love the scene where Dwayne Johnson’s character tells his guys “WHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T LET THEM GET IN THE CARS”. Some things seem curious about the ... Read More!

The new Pirates of the Caribbean trailer looks like the old movies

I liked the first Pirates of the Caribbean. I don’t think I was as huge a fan as others on the web, but I thought the movie was pretty well done and very enjoyable for people of all ages. I like the Jack Sparrow character enough from the first film, and thought he was just as enjoyable in the subsequent movies even if the movies themselves weren’t as enjoyable and I am certainly ... Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon

I stumbled on this movie trailer on themovieblog but by the time I loaded the page the video had already been removed, but found another floating on the web. So far this movie reeks of Michael Bay. Shiny stuff all over the place just begging for an explosion to come and make things complete. I kid, but it really does look cinematic and stylistic in a way that I’ve only seen Michael Bay ... Spider-Man film cast takes shape

I may not show it much, but I was very very disappointed when Sam Raimi backed out of the proposed Spider-man 4. I don’t want to beat a dead horse too much, but Spider-man 3 was… a disappointment critically, but very very successful commercially. I wasn’t too fond of some of the ideas proposed for the 4th film that made their way online, but some were really good. Anne ... Read More!

Impressions: Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam

I finally started watching some of the DC Showcase shorts that have been included with their recent DVD feature film releases. This particular short is actually a bit longer than the typical showcase’s of the past that were about 10-13 mins in length, with Shazam getting some much appreciated feature time coming in at a TV episode worth time of 22+ mins! The first thing that caught my ... Read More!

Review: Castlevania

From a playability standpoint this game is really long, some 52 levels I believe it was. I don’t even know what the final time stamp was on the game, but it took about 3-4 days of solid sessions, basically time you actually commit to playing a game cause you need X amount of hours to play and progress far enough. Having watched/played a bit of the stages of Castlevania, then beating Fist ... Read More!

Re-Cap: Fist of the North Star

Average game is average, news at 11. It’s a C game, it’s a 65-73% game on the % scale. Was it fun to play? Absolutely. Was it a bit repetitive? For sure. Is there a lot of replay? Hell yes. This game truly appeals to the fan and that’s the draw. I’ve waited for a game like this for a very long time and it’s made me want to re-watch Fist of the North Star I beat ... Read More!

Trailer: The Warriors Way

If it wasn’t for the TV spot I would have let this one go by the wayside. The Warrior’s Way is coming, and it’s coming out swinging! The imagery and action remind me of a mix of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “Hero” with a bit of Zack Snyder for good measure. I’m a sucker for karate flicks and have developed a mild interest in westerns thanks to the story that was given in ... Read More!

Impressions: R.E.D.

R.E.D. is a movie I had been mildly looking forward to ever since receiving some promotional material about the movie sometime in 2009. The movie stars Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirrin, and Mary-Louise Parker (for good measure). It’s an cast and an interesting action-comedy that features characters that are passed their prime. I gotta say i think this is a cool ... Read More!
