Something new to look forward is the upcoming Green Lantern Animated Series. We may have missed the announcement at the DC panel during NYCC, but Screen Rant has us covered with some really cool pics showcasing sketches, character notes, and more for the upcoming series as well as a shaky cam video preview.
I have a bit of apprehension once I see that a TV show has chosen to go the CGI route rather than traditional animation, especially when they start dropping names like “Pixar”. The material doesn’t look terrible, but I’ve always had mixed reactions for CGI animations that really weren’t from Pixar. I like that the show will include the entire Green Lantern Corps and will mostly take place in space, so that it further distances itself from the DCAU, but you gotta admit that the character designs are reminiscent of the former shows. I am a growing Green Lantern fan and hope that this is one of the shows that stands the test of time and doesn’t get cut short ahead of reaching its full potential, (we miss you Wolverine and the X-Men, and you too Spectacular Spider-man). I especially hope that this somehow includes some Blackest Night. Lets keep wishing.
