Impressions: ‘Uncharted 2: Among Thieves’

I have to say that I really was looking forward to playing Uncharted 2. I played a bit of Uncharted 1 and really wasn’t impressed with the game that I was playing. Maybe I played the game at the wrong time? 2010 may not have been the gaming environment that the original game was prepared for, but Uncharted 2 brought a whole other entertaining and interesting experience from beginning to end. I really had doubts that there could have possibly been exponentially increased in just between a single game release especially with the current trends we typically in the assembly line style of game creation today. I stand corrected.

Uncharted 2 is an experience from beginning to end. I admittedly still find myself reserved in game selection with the PS3, but this particular game definitely is a defining moment for the Ps3’s appearance in this console generation. It easily is creates and embraces Hollywood style presentation and camera angles in order to direct you through a very unapologetic linear route in order to progress through the game’s narrative that’s just creative enough, just detailed enough, to elevate the impression of going through the game that much more immersible and  engrossing. Any experienced gamer will find that the moment you start the game you think you know what you should be do and start the course, and then you see that perceived route dynamically altered in a cinematic way and it’s these moments with a hyper attention to detail that help solidify the game as an experience that’s all too uncommon and undeniably enjoyable.

I wasn’t expecting to like this game as much as I have and can say that the developers have succesfully converted me to a fan of the series. Now let’s see what they have in store for Uncharted 3!
