Impressions: Sorcerer’s Apprentice

Sorcerer’s Apprentice. This movie is exactly what you expect it too be. The introduction and backstory I dug, I really REALLY wish The Last Airbender had done the same thing with how it got the people into the movie. It would’ve been so simple and just enough magic to make me say, hey I want to know the rest. That was Sorcerer’s Apprentice, the idea of it seemed magical enough and you are along for the ride and it’s a matter if you like it. I for one am on the meh boat, it was an ok way to top off my theatre hopping weekend. It’s what you expect though, finding the apprentice, learning magic, training montage, villain, master, love interest, fight scenes, climax, end of the world saving duel, slight open end to allow for more of the story but still self contained enough. However me just listing all that, it’s all too formulaic and how it pans out and pays off in the end, I just didn’t really care. The child actor they had in the beginning of the movie though, I liked him. Cause I immediately thought of the dude who played Aang and how retarded of an actor he was. However there I don’t know whether to blame the unknown actor or M. Night. Seriously as the days have gone on, The Last Airbender wins the douchebag movie of the year award for me. What a piece of shit. See and now this mini review isn’t even about Sorcerer’s Apprentice anymore. I will say the magic in this movie it’s carried a lot better in the fight scenes than the last Airbender, but that’s not really saying that much. Sometimes it’s just too much damn CGI. This movie though, I think will appeal to the kids more at a franchise level, with Harry Potter winding down, IF it carries on. Oh, it was a Bruckheimer film too. Between this and Prince of Persia, he was meh for me this summer.
