Impressions: Uncharted 3

Plot: The narrative opens with a quote T.E. Lawrence’s Seven Pillars of Wisdom: “All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible. This I did.” The plot revolves around the ... Read More!

Impressions: Thor

I think a lot of people out there are just settling for films and saying ‘oh this movie is ok, or it’s good.’ I mean the same could be said about Fast Five and I really enjoyed that film. It’s so odd how to classify or make your own review, judgment of a movie and saying where it rests for me. I mean is it just bad or would you recommend catching it in the theatre? I ... Read More!

Quick Thoughts: Captain America The First Avenger

Captain America was ok. The most interesting parts I found were when Chris Evans was digitized as the smaller Steve Rogers, or the original one I should say. He played that roll well. I think the casting overall was excellent but seemingly under utilized. The two hours go by real fast and the action sequences are more montage than anything else, which really lessens the impact of things. You ... Read More!

Afterthoughts: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2

I was wrong about the 8th movie, personally anyway. I honestly thought Transformers 3 was more enjoyable and that is not saying much at all. There were a couple things I really liked scene wise, but as a whole the movie was rushed. Having come off watching all 8 movies in the theatres for the past 2 months it’s just odd how they didn’t want to make this film longer than it was. ... Read More!

Impressions: Transformers Dark of the Moon

I have absolutely no idea what happened in Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon. For a lack of a better phrase, that’s exactly how I describe watching Bay’s hopefully last installment in this franchise. It’s not to say the man didn’t do a serviceable job giving us a live-action experience of toys you may or may not have grown up to. It was just so evidently clear to me that ... Read More!

Impressions: Green Lantern

This movie shouldn’t have been made. There were a lot of things that bugged me about this film, pacing, story, transitions. I think casting was off too in the end, but in truth it could’ve just been the delivery of the story itself. It suffered from the same problems I found with Thor, to which Thor is definitely the better film but that’s not saying much at all. The Green ... Read More!

Review: The Hangover Part 2

The Hangover: Part II Before I say anything, there will be spoilers in this impression. So if you haven’t seen this movie yet and don’t want to ruin anything for yourself. Stop reading now. The Hangover: Part II has officially joined the ranks of American Pie. You can bet we’ll see sequel after sequel and potentially direct-to-dvd titles. A third movie has already been ... Read More!

Impressions: Kung Fu Panda 2

If there is one movie to watch in 3D, it’s this one. It is the only way to watch it, production was conceived around it and it truly shows. It’s not only an animation marvel, it’s literally piece of art. There were scenes I wished the director held the camera pan just a couple seconds longer just so you could take in the visuals that much more. There is depth of field, but ... Read More!

Impressions: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

You know what popcorn are going to be. In some ways there is a low expectation for things, or no expectations. You pay your ticket fee and just hope for decent enough entertainment. I think that’s what On Stranger Tides was for me. Good popcorn and good entertainment. Not great, but enough of an adventure to say, yeah I enjoyed that film. I know the latest Pirates movie is getting bad ... Read More!

Impressions: Priest 3D

This is your average film, a little short I would say. It got pushed back almost a year for release date reasons and to convert it to 3D. I really don’t know why they ended up putting it smack dab in with all the summer movies, I think it would’ve benefited more from an October 2010 release. I did enjoy this film for what it was, it did a fantastic job of creating a setting and ... Read More!

Impressions: Limitless

Plot: Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper) is a writer who lives in New York City and has recently been dumped by his girlfriend Lindy (Abbie Cornish) in addition to failing to meet the deadline to turn in his new book, which he hasn’t written yet. One day, Eddie comes across Vernon Gant (Johnny Whitworth), the brother of his ex-wife Melissa Gant (Anna Friel). Vernon is a drug dealer who offers ... Read More!

Impressions: The Lincoln Lawyer

Plot: Moderately successful criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller operates around Los Angeles County out of a Lincoln Town Car driven by a former client working off his legal fees (hence the title). While most clients are drug dealers and gangsters, the story focuses on an unusually important case of wealthy Los Angeles realtor Louis Roulet accused of assault and attempted murder. At first, ... Quick Thoughts: Top Spin 4 Demo

Tried the Topspin 4 demo with Move. Again it’s just swinging, and not about position. You move with the nav controller in your left hand and swing with the Move controller in your right. It didn’t adjust for body position, but that’s just the game. It’s not like say table tennis in Sports Champion. At the end moving your character with an analog stick while feverishly ... Read More!

Quick Thoughts: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 Demo

Tried the Tiger Woods demo with Move, not as intuitive as I thought. In fact it was just like pretend motion, needs to be heavily refined. It’s a simulation of golf swinging and that’s it. I couldn’t control my back swing accurately at all, it’d motion way too far in relation to the character on-screen and myself. So 30% power in say real life ended up being like 50% ... Read More!
