Impressions: Playstation Move + Sharpshooter

I have so much to say on this and I probably won’t be able to say everything. First off, Move is legit. I walked away this weekend absolutely loving the Ping Pong game in the Sports Champion demo. Unlike Wii Tennis, you actually have to hold the controller/paddle straight and can put top spin, back spin, slice, actually lob shots and downward shots. It’s awesome. There are ... Read More!

Quick Thoughts: Enslaved

Plot: The story is a re-imagining of the ancient Chinese story Journey to the West by Wu Cheng’en, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of China. Unlike the original story that was set in a fantastical version of ancient China, the game is set 150 years in a future post-apocalyptic world following a global war, with only remnants of humanity left, along with the still active war ... Impressions: I Am Number Four

Plot: John Smith (Alex Pettyfer) is an alien from planet Lorien who was sent to Earth as a child alongside eight other toddlers to escape an invading race, the Mogadorians, which destroyed their home planet. He is protected by a Guardian, Henri (Timothy Olyphant), and has developed superpowers due to his alien nature, such as enhanced strength, speed and agility, telekinesis, resistance to fire ... Quick Thoughts: No Strings Attached

Caught No Strings Attached, don’t really have a real impression on it. It was tolerable, your standard romcom. It was directed by Ivan Reitman who I thought actually put a little bit more of a whimsical feel to the movie. I don’t know what else to say really, it was predictable, what you expect, it was funny, but still the usual outcome. I do wish some of the cuts particularly ... Read More!

Impressions: Green Hornet

Plot: Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) is the 28-year-old slacker son of widower James Reid (Tom Wilkinson), publisher of the Los Angeles newspaper The Daily Sentinel. Britt is an irresponsible playboy, but his attitude changes when James is found dead from an allergic reaction to a bee sting. After the funeral, Britt fires the staff aside from his maid and Kato (Jay Chou), James’ mechanic and a ... Read More!

Impressions: Vanquish (PS3)

This game can definitely be beat in probably 90min and then it would really feel like playing an animated movie. Vanquish was incredibly stylish and extremely satisfying gameplay wise. From a pure gameplay perspective, it’s a must play. A step above Bayonetta I’d say and maybe I’m bias because it’s more in my genre. It helped it reminded me of Zone of the Enders in ... Read More!

Impressions: Easy A

I enjoyed this movie mainly because it was smart. This film was written with intellect. The only way it works is how it’s presented. In a first person narrative of events that have already happened and you learn how they happened and what came about because of it. You don’t know the full ending but you become invested enough to want to know what happens. It’s funny, Emma ... Read More!

Impressions: Season of the Witch

I think I have a guilty fetish of watching Nicholas Cage movies you know will be bad. It’s not to say Season of the Witch is terrible, but I just want to describe this fetish even more. Nicholas Cage is realistically and by pure math should be probably more miss, than hit, but nevertheless you keep watching him. My favorite movies of his are the National Treasure franchise, only ... Review: Tron Legacy

Plot: For twenty years, Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) has been haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin (Jeff Bridges), an innovative software programmer and former CEO of ENCOM International. During a board of directors’s meeting before the launch of the 12th version of ENCOM’s operating system, Sam breaks in to the company’s headquarters and leaks the OS ... Read More!

Quick Thoughts: Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole

I watched the owl movie. The movie started off interesting but then I couldn’t look past the hilarity of what I was watching. Owls fighting to the death and slow mo action scenes. Story didn’t make sense in terms of progression. They make a huge deal about trying to find the legendary owls who may/may not exist in what is supposed to be a far off land. Once they do make it, they ... Read More!

Review: Castlevania

From a playability standpoint this game is really long, some 52 levels I believe it was. I don’t even know what the final time stamp was on the game, but it took about 3-4 days of solid sessions, basically time you actually commit to playing a game cause you need X amount of hours to play and progress far enough. Having watched/played a bit of the stages of Castlevania, then beating Fist ... Read More!

Re-Cap: Fist of the North Star

Average game is average, news at 11. It’s a C game, it’s a 65-73% game on the % scale. Was it fun to play? Absolutely. Was it a bit repetitive? For sure. Is there a lot of replay? Hell yes. This game truly appeals to the fan and that’s the draw. I’ve waited for a game like this for a very long time and it’s made me want to re-watch Fist of the North Star I beat ... Read More!

Impressions: Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage

I picked up Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage for the PS3. The game was monotonous at first, slow paced but it’s become more fun as I upgrade along. It’s basically Dynasty Warriors with The Fist of the North Star skin. There is more to it, I had to unlock coop which I haven’t even touched yet and was the main reason I got the game for my brother and I to sit down button ... Read More!

Impressions: Castlevania Lords of Shadow

Beautiful looking game, scenery and art direction is really nice. Some of the character designs, mainly the love interest in wonky especially given everyone else. It has a Guillermo Del Toro feel with some of the creatures which was actually bizarre, refreshing but also kind of copy cat. The epic feel of the soundtrack is nice, it’s consistent and the levels seemed varied so far. Only ... Read More!

Quick Thoughts: Jonah Hex

So this weekend I watched Jonah Hex. You know the movie with Josh Brolin, Megan Fox, Malkovic about that western bounty hunter who can speak to the dead. I thought this movie was going to be more supernatural and I’m guessing in the DC comics that’s how it is. It was a side bar in this movie. Let me restate that, in this absolutely horrible movie. From the initial scenes the ... Read More!

Impressions: Castlevania Lords of Shadow Demo

This game looks beautiful; it tries to be epic and comes off feeling like I’m playing Lord of the Rings. Lighting and sound seemingly have high production values. Multiple settings and really nice art direction, I saw a snowy castle, a dark forest, night and day areas, very Lord of the Rings but not as shitty as a game as a LOTR game. I’m interested in this game based on the Hideo ... Read More!

Impressions: Dead Rising 2

Dead Rising 2 Started playing Dead Rising 2. Pretty much the same game as the first one, same 72 hour clock. I have given this sequel more of a chance than the first game but I came to the same conclusion once I was able to start driving a motorcycle around the mall mowing down zombies. The idea of it is fun, but the controls are so finnicky. In the sense the animation sequences always need to ... Read More!

Impressions: Enslaved Demo

Enslaved Demo This is the game by Ninja Theory, who also developed Heavenly Sword. I believe the reason they made Enslaved is because Sony owns the Heavenly Sword IP and the engine they used to create the game, so if you play Enslaved and roll your eyes when you see the Unreal Engine is being used that’s why. They also went multiplatform because they made no money from Heavenly Sword and ... Read More!
