Getting to know: Warren Spector

I had a lovely conversation with Warren Spector this past weekend. The guy is outright down to earth and didn’t accidentally evoke the inner geek in me to expose my secret Star Struck Syndrome. The whole thing was rather unexpected as it was the last day of the New York Comic Con and I was wandering around the vast halls of the Jacob Javits center admiring all the artwork and videos on ... Quick Thoughts: Marvel VS Capcom 3

This past weekend I had the pleasure of playing one of my guilty pleasures, Marvel VS Capcom 3. I was like a kid in the candy store as I stood around the booth and glanced at all the other players. It was bit crowded for my taste, but it was worth standing in line. What I liked most from their booth was the mini-contest going on as everyone stood on this long line to play on the big screen with ... Read More!

NYCC Developer’s Panel: Epic Mickey

This weekend I had the chance to listen to the developers behind Epic Mickey at their NYCC panel. Entering the panel I was a bit puzzled by what was going on, but they were getting stuff checked out and ready before they start of the discussion. I was a bit shocked that they were starting it already. I must say for the time I spent at the panel it was very well put together with few technical ... Read More!

Impressions: Castlevania Lords of Shadow Demo

This game looks beautiful; it tries to be epic and comes off feeling like I’m playing Lord of the Rings. Lighting and sound seemingly have high production values. Multiple settings and really nice art direction, I saw a snowy castle, a dark forest, night and day areas, very Lord of the Rings but not as shitty as a game as a LOTR game. I’m interested in this game based on the Hideo ... Read More!

Impressions: Dead Rising 2

Dead Rising 2 Started playing Dead Rising 2. Pretty much the same game as the first one, same 72 hour clock. I have given this sequel more of a chance than the first game but I came to the same conclusion once I was able to start driving a motorcycle around the mall mowing down zombies. The idea of it is fun, but the controls are so finnicky. In the sense the animation sequences always need to ... Read More!

Impressions: Enslaved Demo

Enslaved Demo This is the game by Ninja Theory, who also developed Heavenly Sword. I believe the reason they made Enslaved is because Sony owns the Heavenly Sword IP and the engine they used to create the game, so if you play Enslaved and roll your eyes when you see the Unreal Engine is being used that’s why. They also went multiplatform because they made no money from Heavenly Sword and ... Read More!

Impressions: Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption. (What the hell does that mean anyway?) The game places you in the role of John Marston, an ex-outlaw and current protagonist of the story. The game takes place pretty much in the early 1900’s and is in the genre of “Western” through and through. Adventure? Check. Drama? Check! Open World? Check. Prostitutes? Kinda. Comedy in a satirical way? All that! Yes, this ... Read More!

FF 13 Impressions

I didn't like the intro sequence for the game, it was like watching a trailer for the game and I was seeing CG cutscenes of events that looked cool but didn't happen yet and as such was being spoiled. The first chapter of the game is the demo I imported over a year ago, so I actually played the first hour which felt rather monotonous. I kept telling myself, gotta get through this ... Read More!

New Super Mario Bros Wii: Impressions

So I played NSBWii. A lot tougher then I anticipated. With up to 4players it is a classic. New power ups are cool. I hate how tiny the damn buttons are on the Wiimote. Actually I don’t like the Nintendo controller completely based on how tiny it is and how it really doesn’t work for traditional gameplay. The nunchuk and Wiimote combo works but when you’re playing traditional ... Read More!

Bayonetta: Impressions

Ok this game is for real. Bayonetta that is. The first clock tower scene is shaky I guess if you care about framerate, it doesn’t help I watched the PS3/360 comparison video for it. However beyond that part the game runs fine to me. Graphically it’s like a B, but with the art directions whether the blur/grain on the entire game was intentional I push it’s visuals to a ... God of War 3 Demo: Impressions

Wow! I forgot to give you impressions! This is going to be a hell of a game,it was the E3 demo but I was really really surprised how much was left toplay from what they showed on stage. Only about half was shown, which was ashame because the demo ends on a high note. If you’ve played the previousGOW games, basically the third game has bigger graphics, bigger setpieces, more gore then I can ... Read More!

GTA4: The Ballad of Gay Tony Review

The name of the game is Grand Theft Auto: the Ballad of Gay Tony which is the latest episode in the Grand Theft Auto franchise for the Xbox360 developed by Rockstar North. This latest episode once again brings us back to the world that is Liberty City and all of it’s gritty, and funny, characteristics that we’ve come to love through playing GTA4 and the previous episode “The ... Scribblenauts: Impressions

What to say about this game… I honestly and this is sincere. I don’t know if it’s a good game or if it’s a bad game. Basically put 2 hrs into this game, there are 10 worlds I believe with like 11 stages per world. However each stage has a puzzle mode or action mode. Puzzle mode you have to solve something, action mode you have to reach your destination and/or do ... Read More!

Twilight: Impressions

I wanted to say a few good things about the movie that was released by the name of “Twilight”. I wanted to, but I can’t… because I believe this movie is absolutely and apologetically terrible. It was easily one of the worst films I may have ever seen in the past 10yrs. I don’t know why the heck so many people are infatuated with the on-screen romance of the main characters ... Read More!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Impressions

Flat out enjoying it! Same old smash and mash gameplay. I chose Wolverine based on healing factor, it really goes a loooong way. I mean when you don’t have to heal yourself… it’s pretty awesome. As per usual you have to unlock characters along the way and some characters are straight up DLC. I’m did some Juggernaut scam yesterday so hopefully I get the free DLC code for ... Read More!

NBA2K10 Draft Combine: Impressions

Didn’t do that much gaming this weekend, I got caught up watching House on TV and subsequently went out and picked up the TV show on DVDs. It’s easily my favorite show on TV and maybe ever. I did however finish the NBA Draft Combine. Incredibly disappointed overall with it after I “beat” it. You are limited to 6 drills and 6 games, but after which you can continue ... Read More!

Review: King of Fighters 12

The Street Fighter series, which has been the most world renown fighting game for ages, has been sitting at the top of the mountain as ‘King’. Many have tried to take down the long standing champion and many have failed. One game that has wrestled with the titan and is still (somewhat) standing is… of course I’m talking about The King Of Fighters series with the latest ... Read More!

Review: BlazBlue

In this day and age the fighting genre is actually over crowded. In contrast to what the landscape looked like a few years ago today’s day and age is that of one with so many generic 2D fighters on the market it is hard to stand out. While the crown is still held by Street Fighter there are many other competitors out there trying their best to take the crown. We all know about Mortal ... Read More!
