Reality TV

Over the past couple of years it has seem that television has become stupider and stupider. It has come to my attention that networks such as MTV; VH1; BET has given everyone and their mother a reality TV. Also you have shows like Big Brother; Amazing Race; Fear Factor; America Idol; The Appreciate and America’s Next Top Model came along. The whole concept of the show is everyone looking to ... Kratos in New Mortal Kombat

A new trailer has been released showcasing the God of War himself as he enters the tournament with all of our favorite Kombatants in the latest Mortal Kombat game. I like the action, I like the gore, I like the return to a 2D plane! I haven’t played a Mortal Kombat game that measured up to the first 3 but this latest entry is impressive in all the right ways. I can’t wait to see ... Read More!

Crysis 2 Launch Trailer: New York, New York

The trailer for the follow up to the acclaimed Crysis is here, along with the new game, and it seems they have decided to introduce us to their “New York, New York”. Source: Comingsoon.netI wasn’t a fan of the PC game or its multiplayer follow up, but maybe this can change with some good twin analog turbines to keep me interested throughout the night. Here’s hoping.; ... Read More!

Quick Thoughts: Top Spin 4 Demo

Tried the Topspin 4 demo with Move. Again it’s just swinging, and not about position. You move with the nav controller in your left hand and swing with the Move controller in your right. It didn’t adjust for body position, but that’s just the game. It’s not like say table tennis in Sports Champion. At the end moving your character with an analog stick while feverishly ... Read More!

Quick Thoughts: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 Demo

Tried the Tiger Woods demo with Move, not as intuitive as I thought. In fact it was just like pretend motion, needs to be heavily refined. It’s a simulation of golf swinging and that’s it. I couldn’t control my back swing accurately at all, it’d motion way too far in relation to the character on-screen and myself. So 30% power in say real life ended up being like 50% ... Read More!

Quick Thoughts: Contra Hard Corps Uprising

I tried that new contra game on PSN, it’s super hard. You gotta level up and stuff. I found myself playing it for an hour or so. I actually bought all the DLC characters too, it’s solid contra. Weapon rate is a little slow though, only complaint so far and it’s fucking hard. Just going to be one of those trial and error, memorizing levels games. 3 lives, 3 continues, ... Read More!

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime Dev Diary

I’m a huge Ghostbusters fan and usually geek out at the mere thought of the theme song, proton packs, or just enough bright lights “crossing streams” before my eyes so I always enjoy when someone shares my enthusiasm for the franchise. Today we have a look at the dev diary for the latest Ghostbusters game: Source: Joystiq I love me some Ghostbusters and look forward to any ... Read More!

Batman: Arkham City trailer premiere

The first trailer for the sequel to the critically acclaimed Batman Arkham Asylum has made its way online and shows off Batman, Catwoman, and Mr. Harvey “Two-Face” Dent himself in what appears to be some of the dirties, wettest, grittiest locations I’ve ever seen in a videogame in my life that undoubtedly pushes the Unreal Engine in directions I’d never imagined for a ... Marvel’s Anime

Looks like we have a decent comic book series meet anime domination happening now. Over the fall for New York’s annual Big Apple Comic-Con/Anime Festival. Impressions: Playstation Move + Sharpshooter

I have so much to say on this and I probably won’t be able to say everything. First off, Move is legit. I walked away this weekend absolutely loving the Ping Pong game in the Sports Champion demo. Unlike Wii Tennis, you actually have to hold the controller/paddle straight and can put top spin, back spin, slice, actually lob shots and downward shots. It’s awesome. There are ... Read More!

Quick Thoughts: Enslaved

Plot: The story is a re-imagining of the ancient Chinese story Journey to the West by Wu Cheng’en, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of China. Unlike the original story that was set in a fantastical version of ancient China, the game is set 150 years in a future post-apocalyptic world following a global war, with only remnants of humanity left, along with the still active war ...
